Batman - The Dark Knight

I watched Batman - The Dark Knight this afternoon. It was very very good. I won't go into a lot of description because I don't want to give anything away for people who haven't seen it yet, but I will say that it is worth your time and money.

I think this movie surpasses all the hype it's gotten, especially after the death of Heath Ledger. I will say that while the writing is good, Christian Bale doesn't bring a lot of emotional depth to the character of Batman. I will even go so far as to say that he is just as emotional as Batman / Bruce Wayne as he was in the movie Equilibrium where he plays a man on emotion suppressing drugs. Batman is supposed to be the dark, brooding, tortured, character and I don't think Bale ever really conveys the struggle Batman has with the darker aspects of his nature. Nevertheless, Bale's performance wasn't dismal, just merely adequate. Considering how brilliant Ledger is as The Joker, I would have like to have seen Bale portray Batman with the same level of quality.
