This is my hands down favorite HP fanfiction story. This story is what I wanted from HBP. If you want an actual print copy, I had it published. They didn't do it best, but the were one of the first to write an HP fanfiction story of such a large scale and scope. I think everyone should start here when they first get into Harry Potter fanfiction.

Various Stories

Most of these are various one shot stories written before OotP. I think it's interesting to see the pre-OotP characterizations that inspired many authors. Specifically, I recommend the Hermione, Queen of Witches series, Dare, and Not as a Last Resort.

Start with Midnight Musings. This AU post hogwarts tale was one of the first storues I fell in love with after reading After the End.
